Three Wildcats Finish Top-20 at Northwood

MIDLAND, MI - Top 20 finishes by Eli Allen, 16:54, 8th in the men’s race and Emma Dickins, 20:26, and Kaelyn Heath. 21:07, 14th, and 17th respectively in the women’s race earned them awards and highlighted the Wildcat’s day at The Northwood XC Invitational on Saturday. Emma and Eli both posted season-best times and fared well against some of the teams the Cats will face in regional competition later in the season.
The women placed 7th in the 14-team field. The men’s team, depleted by injury and illness this week managed a 13th place finish. Though the team placing wasn’t as high as hoped, the coaching staff is extremely pleased with the effort by all as several personal and season best times were posted. Freshman Braeden Mathis was the second man in for the wildcats with a PR of 19:10. Freshman Izzy Szymanski ran a personal best 22:38 for the women and was the 3rd cat in. Next up the Wildcats travel to East Lansing on Friday 9/16 to take part in the MSU Spartan Invitational.
