1st Big North Conference Jamboree

The Alpena Cross Country teams faced the entire conference in their 1st of 3 Jamborees Tuesday in Cadillac. This counts for 1/4 of their final score towards determining who is Conference Champ for teams AND individuals. The girls ran first with Traverse City Central's super star Sielle Kerney quickly leaving the rest of the runners behind. She finished 1:32 seconds ahead of 2nd place! Maddy Boyd was bunched up with a slew of runners from Traverse City West. She was able to fight through the pack and lead them for the rest of the race finishing 2nd overall. Anna Young, who is struggling with shin splints, was able to complete her first race of tye season finishing with a respectable 21st. Molly Dickenson ran with Anna to finish 22nd. Kaylee Rondeau and Tiffany Foster also ran together and pushed each other to finish 51st and 52nd completing our top 5. The girls finished with a tie for 4th in which place the tie breaker goes to your 6th place runner. Petoskey was able to pull off the 4th pushing Alpena to 5th. The boys raced 2nd and started strong. Aden Smith finished 2nd behind Traverse City Central's Morgan McGrew. Josh Smith finished 4th by 1 mere second to Traverse City Wests Robbie Lohr. Drew Seabase had a strong finish to end 6th in his first conference race. Jimmy Decker, who was seeded 31st, ended with a strong 27th for the team. Sam Tuscher finished 30th completing our top 5. The boys ended with a solid 3rd behind Traverse City Central and Traverse City West. Alpena Cross country will divide and conquer Saturday, September 23 with varsity competing at Delta College and Junior Varsity competing in Petoskey!
