TRENTON, MI - The Alpena Hockey team used timely goal scoring and stellar goaltending to knock-off #8 Flint Powers, 3-1, at the MIHL Showcase on Friday morning. Flint Powers jumped out early when Tyler Lawrence tucked home a rebound just 2:35 into the game. Alpena responded when Kyle VanDusen buried a wrist shot from the slot for his 16th goal of the season. VanDusen scored his second of the game when he took the face-off and beat Brent Zloto five-hole with 7:55 in the 2nd. Four minutes later, VanDusen completed the natural hat trick off a feed from Evan Kraenzlein. Cooper Black made the lead stick as he made 31 saves for his 12th win of the season. Alpena (14-4-1) will take on #14 Grand Rapids Catholic Central (11-7-1) on Saturday afternoon.
