ALPENA, MI - The Alpena Girls Basketball team couldn't overcome six Cadillac three-pointers as they fell, 49-40, to the Vikings on Friday night at the Gillespie Gymnasium. Alpena started off strong as Maddie Voltz paced the offense early to a 16-10 lead at the end of the 1st Quarter. The Vikings then began to hit from long range as Makenna Bryant and Molly Anderson got hot and helped take a 29-25 halftime lead over Alpena. In the second half, the Wildcats would cut the lead to three on two separate occasions but could not get any closer. Voltz led the Wildcat offensive effort with nine points, Jad Schultz added six points, and Allison DeRocher chipped in five. Alpena (2-3, 1-1 BNC) host TC West on Thursday night.
