EAST LANSING, MI - Senior Kennedy Ellis finished her High School career at the Division 2 MHSAA Finals at Michigan State's Forest Akers West Golf Course on October 16.  Ellis shot a final round 101 to finish 73rd overall, all while battling a sprained ankle.  Ellis finished in the top-10 nine times during the 2020 season and earned 1st team All-Big North Conference.  

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Alpena Girls’ Golf competed at Traverse City Golf and Country Club today in the Big North Conference Championship. The cats finished with a team score of 445, led by Kennedy Ellis with a 92 and Gianna Bolda with a 114. Katie Kurowski and Amelia Carlson, both seniors, shot 119 and 139, respectively. Brianna Boyk and Rebekah Carlson rounded out the team with scores of 120 and 124.

Kennedy Ellis earned first-team all-conference honors this year, placing fourth overall in the BNC. Traverse City West was the overall BNC Champions.

This wraps up the season for most of our girls. Kennedy will still compete at MHSAA State Finals this Friday at Forest Akers West.

MT. PLEASANT, MI - The Alpena Girls’ Golf team traveled to the Pohlcat in Mt. Pleasant today for MHSAA Regional play. The Wildcats finished tied for 7th, with a team score of 452. Kennedy Ellis led the team with a 3rd-place 86. Gianna Bolda had 108; Brianna Boyk had 120; Rebekah Carlson had 138, and Mykenize Klimczak rounded out the team with a 142.

Ellis’ 86 was good enough to earn her the top spot among individual qualifiers for MHSAA state finals, held at MSU’s Forest Akers on Friday, October 16th.

The Wildcats play again on Monday in Traverse City for BNC finals.
