ALPENA, MI - The Alpena Girls Tennis team continued their early season strong play with a 7-1 victory over Grayling on Monday night at The Aplex.  For the second time in as many matches the Alpena doubles teams earned a clean sweep of their opponent as Taylor Belanger/Mija Pilkaite, Rachael Hart/Arlene Dai, Amelia Berles/Tilly Williams, and Tayler Hansen-Bates/Danielle Schackmann were all victorious.  Gwynevere Denblyker continued her dominating play with a 6-0, 6-1 victory at number 1 singles.  Brynna Smith (6-0, 6-0) and Emeline Hanna (6-3, 1-6, 10-5) were all victorious in singles play  Grayling's  Nicole Oppermann earned their only victory at number three singles with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Emilee Spomer.  The Wildcats (2-0) host Harbor Springs on April 11 at the AHS Tennis Courts.

Girls Tennis Opens Season With Win Over Ramblers

ALPENA, MI - The Alpena Girls Tennis team opened the 2019 season with a 7-1 victory over Boyne City on Thursday afternoon at the Aplex.  Gwen Denbleyker, who was a State Final Qualifier in 2018, earned an 8-0 victory at Number 1 singles to set the tone for the Wildcats.  Brynna Smith at No. 2 singles and Maddi Speaks picked up the other two victories in singles.  The Wildcats doubles teams of Taylor Belanger/Mija Pilkaite, Rachel Hart/Arlene Dai, Amelia Berles/Tilly Williams, and Taylor Hansen Bates/Dani Shackmann were also all victorious.  The Wildcats host Grayling on April 8 at 4pm.
