Five Wildcats Qualify for MHSAA Regionals

MT. PLEASANT, MI - Five Wildcat Cross Country runners qualified for the MHSAA Regionals via their times at the Pre-Regionals in Mt. Pleasant on Saturday, For the Girls, Madi Szymanski (19:15.31) finished 2nd overall behind Bay City Western's Karissa Picard (19:11.86). Szymanski's time was good enough to move her on to the Regionals, and will be joined by Emma Dickens. The Wildcats team placed 6th overall behind 1st place Bay City Western.
For the boys, Hayden Allen (17:20.58) finished 15th overall and will advance to the MHSAA Regionals. Joining Allen will be Jacob Kochanski (17:43.82) and Hunter Hitzelberger (17:49.78). The Wildcats finished 6th behind overall winner Saginaw Heritage.
The MHSAA Regionals will be Saturday, October 31 at White Pines Middle School in Saginaw.
Wildcats Win Northern Lower Peninsula Invite

WEST BRANCH MI- The Alpena Boys and Girls Cross Country teams both finished 1st overall at the Northern Lower Peninsula Invite on Saturday. Mady Szymanski was the overall top finisher for the Girls (19:23.25), a full minute and sixteen seconds ahead of the 2nd place finisher. Emma Dickens was 4th (21:52.08), Grace Mitchell was 5th (22:20.80), and Hannah Tracey was 8th (22:46.89). The Wildcats finished 19 points ahead of 2nd place Roscommon.
Hayden Allen (17:44.96) was nipped at the line by 0:00.16 to finish second overall behind Roscommon's Xander Civinskas (17:43.36). Hunter Hitzelberger was 3rd (18:04.23), Jacob Kochanski was 4th (18:06.21), Elijah Allen was 5th (18:22.73), and Brenden Stepaniak was 7th (18:26.34).
The Cross Country Teams travel to Mount Pleasant on October 24 for the MHSAA Pre-Regionals.
