Three Wildcats Compete at Regionals

WILLIAMSBURG, MI - The Division 2 Region 7 girls golf regionals took place Wednesday October 10th at the Spruce Run at the Grand Traverse Resort in Williamsburg.  AHS had three Lady Wildcats qualify and compete as individuals. Senior Brynna Smith capped off her senior year competing in her fourth consecutive golf regional competition. Sophomore Kennedy Ellis competed in her second consecutive golf regional competition and posted a score of 107. This was the first regional competition for freshman Gianna Bolda who posted a score of 141. 

Three Wildcats Compete at BNC Championship

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - Three individuals from the lady Wildcats girls golf team competed at the Big North Conference Championship October 1st at the Traverse City Golf and County Club. Senior Brynna Smith played in her final BNC championship for girls golf and posted a score of 122.  Sophomore Kennedy Ellis posted a 102 in her second BNC championship. And freshman Gianna Bolda posted a 161 in her first ever BNC championship. Smith, Ellis, and Bolda will represent AHS at regionals on October 10th at Grand Traverse Resort, Spruce Run.

Smith Leads Wildcats at Cheboygan Invitational

CHEBOYGAN, MI - Three of the AHS Lady Wildcat golfers competed at the Cheboygan Invitational on Monday September 24th. The team was lead by senior Brynna Smith who posted a 101. Sophomore Kennedy Ellis posted a 117, and sophomore Brylie Carsten posted a 153. 

Three AHS Girls Qualify for Regionals in Girls Golf

ALPENA, MI - AHS has three young ladies that met the qualifying requirements this year including; sophomore Kennedy Ellis, senior Brynna Smith and freshman Gianna Bolda. Because AHS didn’t have four girls that met the qualifying requirements Ellis, Smith , and Bolda will compete as individuals at the 2018 regionals which will be held on October 10th at the Grand Traverse Resort on the Spruce Run course. 

Girls Golf Competes in Midland

MIDLAND, MI - The AHS Lady Wildcats varsity Golf team was in Midland today. They competed in the Frank Altimore Invitational played at Currie West the site of their 2017 regionals. The team was lead by sophomore Kennedy Ellis who continued her 90s streak and posted a 99 which tied her for 12th place overall. Senior Brynna Smith carded a respectable 114 battling through illness to stay in play. And freshman Gianna Bolda repeated her lowest tournament score to date of 121. Coach Ellis commended the girls for playing their best even though the they were all battling illness. “It really shows their level of dedication and commitment when these girls can come out and play as well as they did today.”

Wildcats Compete at Petoskey Invitational

PETOSKEY, MI - The lady Wildcats competed in the Petoskey Invitational on September 6th at Bay View County Club. It was a beautiful afternoon/evening for golf. The team was lead by sophomore Kennedy Ellis who posted a 97.  Senior Brynna Smith was close behind posting 103.  The team was rounded out by Freshman Gianna Bolda who carded 121 and sophomore Mia Carlson who carded 162.  The lady Wildcats will be back in action on September 18th in Midland. 

Girls golf host home tournament

ALPENA, MI - The Alpena High School girls Golf team hosted their home tournament, the Battle by the Bay, at Rivers Edge in Alpena on 08/28/2018. 

The team would like to offer an extra Special thank you to Rivers Edge owner Mr. Tim Fitzpatrick and club pro Mr. Jerry McConnell for all of their support. We are so fortunate to be able to train and play at such an amazing course. It is truly a Northern Michigan gem. 

Our top four golfers competed in the varsity division.  (Pictured in front) Sophomore Kennedy Ellis posted 110, senior Brynna Smith lead the team carding a 107, freshman Gianna Bolda shot 123, sophomore Gwen Kollien posted 128.

Sophomore Mia Carlson shot 146, sophomore Kate Kurowski carded 158, junior Madison Timmreck posted 164, Cassie Stanton lead the alternates shooting 145, freshman Mykenize Klimczak shot 158, and sophomore Brylie Carsten posted 159.  

The top lady Wildcats will be back in tournament action September 6th in Petoskey. 

Ellis Finishes 3rd Overall at TC Titans Invitational

TRAVERSE CITY, MI - The Alpena Girls Golf team competed in the TC Titans Invitational on Tuesday. Senior Brynna Smith posted 103 with an impressive 44 on the front nine. Sophomore Kennedy Ellis posted the lowest score for the team at 99, which placed her 3rd overall. Sophomore Gwen Kollien posted 125, and Freshman Gianna Bolda posted 135. 

The Wildcats home tournament is Tuesday August 28th at Rivers Edge, tee off at 9am. Please come support or Lady Wildcat golf team.

Girls Golf Competes in Grayling

GRAYLING, MI - The AHS Lady Wildcats Golf team  competed in the Grayling Girls Golf Invitational August 29,2018. The team was lead by sophomore Kennedy Ellis who shot 98.  Sophomore Gwen Kollien shit a 119, Freshman Gianna Bolda shot a 128, Sophomore Kate Kurowski shot a 162, and junior Madison Timmreck shot 173. The lady Wildcats will be back in action August 21, 2018 at Interlochen.

Ellis Competes At Lober Invitational

WILLIAMSBURG, MI - Sophomore Kennedy Ellis competed as an individual at the Lober Invitational August 16-17 at the Grand Traverse Resort. Ellis carded a 106 both days for a two day 36 hole total of 212.  The highlights of the two days included: a birdie on hole 7 Thursday playing Wolverine and a birdie on hole 13 Friday playing Spruce. The lady Wildcat team will be in action again Monday and Tuesday.

AHS Girls Golf season opener

CANADIAN LAKES, MI - The Alpena Varsity girls golf team opened the 2018 season at the two-person Chippewa Hills Scramble at The Royal Golf Course at Canadian Lakes. Six members of the team competed in the event on Wednesday. Senior Brynna Smith and Freshman Mykenize Klimczak posted the lowest Alpena team score of 102. Sophomore Gwen Kollien and Sophmore Caisee Stanton posted a 114 while Freshman Gianna Bolda and Sophomore Katherine Kurowski posted a 121.
